Pharoah Sanders' Izipho Zam (My Gifts) is a bold, boundary-pushing jazz masterpiece, recorded in 1969 at Town Sound Studios, two years after his mentor John Coltrane's death, but not released until 1973 by Stanley Cowell and Charles Tolliver's Strata-East label. For the first time ever, this piece of jazz history has been transferred from the original analog tapes at 96k-192k/24bit resolution, with lacquers cut by Kevin Gray at Coherent Audio, whose remasters bring new depth and clarity to this spiritual journey. Pressed on 180-gram audiophile-grade vinyl at Record Technology Inc. (RTI) and packaged in high-quality glossy tip-on gatefold jackets with brand new liner notes by famed writer Harmony Holiday, Sanders' 13-member ensemble—including Sonny Sharrock, Lonnie Liston Smith, Cecil McBee, and Leon Thomas—will be heard at the highest quality audio available.
